Pardew Opens The Doors To Newcastle High Tech Training

Alan Pardew opened the doors of the Benton training ground to local journalists yesterday, so they could see at first hand what exactly goes into the preparation for each of Newcastle’s games.
Alan Pardew – invited journalists to training yesterday at Benton
Alan showed the journalists the various videos and scouting reports that form the preparation for the upcoming Bolton game on Saturday, and it seems everything is throughly covered, as it appears the journalists were more than a little impressed.
Each of the reports had detailed strengths and weaknesses of the opposition, in this case Bolton Wanderers, and yesterday Alan took the lads through an intensive training session, after the squad has been given Monday off.
And it seems that Alan yesterday concentrated on the shape of the defense, and ensured it maintained its shape under different conditions that happen in a game.
Alan coaches the defense and John Carver coaches the forwards, so Alan himself can take some credit for the improvement of the Newcastle defense since he arrived, and for the four clean sheets already this year.
Alan is into high tech stuff like big Sam Allardyce was, and each player, according to the Newcastle Journal, had a £3Kper-player GPS system putting out figures and measurements to do with what the player was doing in training – things like heart-rate, yards covered – so it’s kind of hard to hide in any training session – even if you wanted to.
Alan talked about the changes he had made in the training since he arrived a couple of months ago:
“I have changed a lot of analytical stuff. I brought in two new analysts who put together reports about how our defense, our midfield and our attack are doing. They look at how our opposition are doing, plus our scouting,”In the last several months an investment has also made in Newcastle’s scouting network, with more scouts now working for the Newcastle club, specifically in Europe.
“We have four analysts now and we only had two. We have John Carver here, whose brief is to ensure he keeps on top of our attacking side of things. I concentrate on the defense and the organization of the team.”
“That, in a nutshell, is the changes I have made. I’ve also used some of the stats that we get more than perhaps this club did in the past.”
It turns out over the weekend Alan was in France, while other scouts were at games in Holland, Belgium and the lower divisions of the English League, looking for young talent who may be brought to Newcastle this summer.
It’s hard to know who exactly will be brought into the squad, but we have an inkling there may be more players coming in than we expect, with a few teenagers for the future, among those who are acquired.
And if the game plan for Saturday is anything like as good it was in our last couple of games at Blackburn and Birmingham, then Newcastle must have a good chance of beating Bolton.
The Trotters are not very good away from the Reebok Stadium, in the League, and if we win and Sunderland lose at Everton, Newcastle would jump to 7th place in the league.
