Jonas Gutierrez Can Play Big Part Again Against Bolton

Jonas Gutierrez Can Play Big Part Again Against Bolton

Jonas Gutierrez has come out recently and said he is very happy on Tyneside.

Jonas Gutierrez – has been in good form lately

That’s a bit of a relief, with yesterday’s news about Joey Barton is now in a stalemate over his new contract.
Joey wanted a three year extension to his contract, which runs out in the summer of next year, and agreed to take a £1M/year cut, but Newcastle have offered him only a two year extension,  and apparently the club will not budge on that.
The Newcastle Journal has not added too much to that this morning, by saying the contract talks are now on the back burner,  and Joey may leave this summer.
We hope that something is done before the summer, and this is certainly not good news about one of our very best players.
But Joey seems as positive as ever today, as he talks about the Newcastle strikers Best and Lovenkrands, and winger Jonas Gutierrez today.
Jonas had two excellent assists in the win at Birmingham, and has been showing some good form out on the left wing recently.
This is what Joey Barton said today:
“The strikers have stepped up,” “If you are Leon Best, Nile Ranger, Shefki Kuqi – that’s the chance they have been waiting for.
“Besty has taken the bull by the horns, he has proven he is Premier League quality.”  “Peter has done what he has been doing for a long time, he is a nuisance in the box and scores goals.”
“And the more they play together, the more they will develop an understanding.” “Now they are going to get opportunities because of the way Jonás Gutiérrez is playing. At Birmingham they were two great goals, two great balls in from Jonas.”
“One of the things that can be leveled at Jonás sometimes is his end product, but he was different class at Birmingham and he is capable of that.”
“He is a maverick type but he is capable of producing world-class moments. The ball for the second goal at St Andrew’s was fantastic and he’ll be looking to continue that.”
Leon Best has 5 goals in his first 7 games for Newcastle, which is not too bad at all, but that is helped when you get a hat-trick on your debut,  as Leon did against West Ham when he looked just great.
And Leon has certainly stepped up to the plate, when Newcastle really needed him, so all credit to the lad for doing that, and long may it continue.
Jonas Gutierrez may also play an important role on Saturday against Bolton, with the news that Sam Rickets is injured, and will not play in the game on Saturday.
Sam can play in either full-back position and he’s shown some good form this season, but it does mean that Bolton will need to bring in somebody at full-back, and that could provide an opportunity for the Argentine to show his stuff again.
And if Newcastle can get a win on Saturday, and Sunderland don’t win at Everton, then the lads will be in 7th place in the Premier League.
Sounds good to us.
